Crit Under The Castle is a closed road cycle racing extravaganza around Stirling Town Centre. Taking place on Sunday 18th June 2017, this event incorporates a round of the British Youth Series 2017.
Criterium road racing is an exciting format of cycle racing, held over a short course, usually in a city centre, affording a great spectacle and in a format designed to make the races short, fast and great to watch. This European style of racing is almost more popular than football in Belgium and Holland. Cycling in the UK is going through a boom period at present, with cycle racing attracting full fields of competitors and enormous crowds of spectators.

Below you will find various maps and info points about the big day. Some of the maps are a bit 'dry' but these are to show the various road closures on the course.
"Crit under the Castle 2017" returns on Sunday June 18th 2017 in the shadows of Stirling Castle. The yearly event expects to attract 10,000 visitors to the City of Stirling with the Events Village at the heart of this large scale event.
This is a great opportunity for Clubs, Local Businesses, National Governing Bodies of Sport and the likes to promote and upsell their trades with first hand access to the spectators and competitors.
The Events village will run for the majority of the event and with mass spectators we hope to create a real buzz around the event with plenty of stalls and attractions as well as the continuous announcements and commentary from the races themselves.
Plots for Charitable organisations/clubs/NGBs are completely free of charge and the stall can involve anything from purely promotional material to activity and participation type areas.
Any commercial plots will have a £100 charge.

The circuit is 1.18 miles in length with the start / finish line just outside the Albert Halls, (Race HQ), heading out Albert Road, turning left and skirting Victoria Park, along Clarendon Place, before turning left and picking up pace down Kings Park Road. The route then takes a left into Port Street before entering a technical section, with riders requiring skill and nerve to negotiate the narrowing roads before turning left again and enduring the King Street cobbled climb then a seriously fast run down Corn Exchange Road towards the start / finish line. The Elite race has a real sting in its tail, with the riders climbing King Street on the last lap, but just to ensure their legs are done, they keep climbing up Spittal Street, enduring the steep cobbled climb all the way up, past the historic Portcullis and finishing on the historic Stirling Castle Esplanade.
The Race HQ will be in the wonderful surroundings of the Albert Halls in Stirling. This fantastic building is situated in the city centre within easy access of the start line and the entire circuit.
